Artist's Gallery

I've been painting on and off now for forty years, and I'm completely self taught. To avoid any confusion with regards to my art, I have painted under a pseudonym for many years, as you will probably notice on some of my paintings, and I have often signed my work with just initials. All recent works are signed as Torsten, which is my actual name.  

Watercolour is my favourite medium, but I occasionally paint in other mediums such as oil and acrylic. Painting for me is like a form of meditation. A way to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of life and calm the inner self.   I love wildlife and nature which is where I find the inspiration for most of my work. Painting landscapes is another passion of mine, and living on the edge of Dartmoor, inspiration for this is always close at hand. I love the way light can change the mood over a landscape, stirring deep emotions inside. Often the best way to capture this and to make a connection to the land is by painting plein air, something that I often enjoy. 

 I'm now semi retired, but a full time parent for two Whippets. Painting is my passion, and I try to paint whenever time allows.
